The first ever Regional Macintosh Gathering for Southern California Mac users |
|||||
Vendor Presentations & ExhibitsOnce upon a time the Queen Mary's Exhibit Hall was the ship's #5 Boiler Room, Forward Engine Room, Hospital, and Main Galleys Pantry. On April 5th & 6th it will be home to some of our favorite Macintosh vendors and host to a wide variety of valuable seminars. |

ExhibitorsUnlike most trade shows, there is no open call for vendors to exhibit. More like a user group meeting, we have hand-picked a selection of Mac vendors and personally invited them to attend. (Which is not to say if a vendor is not here we don't like them.) Our goal is a diverse selection of helpful products that you can get to know well by attending. Setting up the Mac Gathering is a huge undertaking and I (Deb) am doing this vendor stuff alone, so bear with us as I contact each vendor and work out the details. Check back here from time to time to see who's signed on. |

Software & hardware vendors have a lot to teach us about their products and each product's raison d'être. In these 2 hour presentations, you'll learn about the Mac issues that create the need for these products and how each product fulfills the need. You'll learn about background, issues, features, and such. For example, you will have the opportunity to learn all about file compression from the experts at Aladdin Systems, about font issues and management from the folks at Font Reserve.

Other PresentationsWe've got a lot of room, so after a day of vendor presentations we'll have some other educational sessions. We want to be sure to give you some great advice on things like making the move to OS X or customizing your OS X system and perhaps even an intro to the Terminal. Maybe we'll have a word processing tips session. And we'll definately have a session about keeping your Mac secure. We honestly have more ideas and instructors than time slots and spaces so we're still working it all out.Here's one Free Seminar we'll have for you on Saturday or Sunday The reality of Mac Security; everything you should know about your Mac's security.Taught by: Nicholas Raba, founder and author of SecureMac.com. Mac OS X has many built-in security features to enhance both the desktop security (physical access when you or others are in front of your Mac) and to protect against Internet intruders. Do you know all of them and how to best use each one? Learn what Mac OS X has to offer to ensure your Mac stays secure. Learn about things OS X cannot do on its own, and what you can do to enhance the security features already present in the operating system. |
